Join us in Cone 7 for an enchanting evening of ceramic exploration! In our one-evening ceramic course, we'll immerse ourselves in the world of hand-building, modeling, and decorating with slip. Unleash your creativity as we dive into the ancient technique of hand-building, where you'll learn to mold and shape clay with your own hands. Discover the joy of creating unique, one-of-a-kind ceramic pieces that reflect your artistic vision. Under the guidance of our experienced instructors, Eléonore and Joe, you'll learn various hand-building techniques, from pinch pots and coil construction to slab building. Explore the limitless possibilities of clay as you bring your imaginative ideas to life, transforming a lump of clay into captivating sculptures, jewelry, functional vessels, or decorative pieces. But that's not all! We'll also dig into the art of decorating with colored slips or underglazes. Learn how to apply slip to your creations, experimenting with colors, textures, and patterns to add depth and personality. From sgraffito and mishima to slip trailing and marbling, you'll explore different slip decoration techniques. After that evening, we will fire and glaze those pieces for you with food-safe transparent glaze. They will be ready to be picked up after two weeks ! Whether you're a beginner or have previous ceramic experience, this one-evening course is designed to inspire and nurture your artistic spirit.
