Glazing session for Autonomy access
Glazing session for Autonomy access
🟢 Collective Glazing Session — Cone 7 Ceramic Workshop
Join a collective glazing session at Cone 7!
Access all studio glazes, get guidance, and finish your ceramic pieces in a focused, supportive environment.
Glazing at Cone 7 now takes place during organized collective glazing sessions, designed to make the glazing process safer, more inspiring, and easier for everyone.
Glazes are one of the most complex and expensive parts of ceramics — and with our growing number of autonomous members, finding the right glaze bucket and keeping materials organized has become increasingly difficult.
To avoid confusion, mistakes, and unnecessary stress (both for students and for the studio team), we now dedicate specific times only for glazing.
During these sessions, the studio is set up entirely for that purpose — all glaze buckets are out, tools are prepared, and guidance is provided.
This new system helps ensure:
✨ Safe and correct use of glazes
🪣 Better organization and cleanliness
💬 A calmer, more focused atmosphere
⚖️ Less mental load for both students and instructors
🧴 How it works:
- Sign up for one of the scheduled glazing sessions.
- The session costs 300 NOK, which covers use of all glazes, tools, and guidance during the session.
- Glaze firings are not included and are charged separately depending on the amount of work and kiln space used.
- If you have an Autonomous Pass (4-day, 10-day, etc.), you may use one day of your pass instead of paying the 300 NOK.
- The studio will be reserved for glazing only during this time — not for hand-building or wheel-throwing.
💡 Glazing will no longer be done individually during autonomous access.
Instead, we glaze together in these focused sessions — a great opportunity to learn about glaze combinations, experiment safely, and keep a good collective workflow for everyone in the studio.
🕓 Please glaze regularly
To keep shelf space available and the studio running smoothly, participants are expected to glaze their bisqued pieces within a reasonable time.
Pieces left unglazed for too long may need to be removed to make space for new work.
Practical info:
📍 Location: Cone 7 Ceramic Workshop, Laksevåg, Bergen
⏰ Duration: Typically 2–3 hours (depending on group size and number of pieces)
🎟️ Price: 300 NOK (or 1 day from your Autonomous Pass)
🪣 Includes: Use of all studio glazes, glaze tools, and guidance during the session
🔥 Glaze firing is billed separately depending on the amount of work and kiln space used.
Note on larger amounts of work:
The standard glazing session fee covers typical amounts of work — roughly up to 10 cup-sized pieces.
As our studio grows, some people produce more than others — which is wonderful!
Still, I reserve the right to add a small extra firing fee when someone has a particularly large amount of work to glaze or fire.
This helps keep things fair and balanced for everyone using the studio.
For exceptionally large pieces or heavy kiln loads, an additional firing fee may apply (usually 400–800 NOK, depending on space used).
This ensures fair use of glaze materials and kiln capacity for everyone.
